Angiography

Cardiac angiography is a method that uses an X-ray to take pictures and examine the blood vessels of the heart. With the help of angiography, the doctor can find out if something is blocking the blood flow to the patient’s heart. Angiography is one of the procedures known as cardiac catheterization and shows the risk of cardiovascular disease.

If a person has angina pectoris, heart attack, chest pain, stenosis, or heart failure of unknown cause, a cardiologist will usually recommend an angiogram.

Angiography is used to determine the number of blocked coronary arteries, the location of the blockage, and its extent.
